Lesa Ukman is a thought-leading marketer, entrepreneur, journalist and a professor.

While working for the City of Chicago’s Mayor’s Office of Special Events in 1980, she leveraged the power of live events to transform the City’s image and increase leisure tourism. The success of the program was amplified by her creation of the first-ever public/private partnership program. Cash and media commitments from the private sector more than quadrupled the program’s impact in year one and led to the founding of IEG, which Lesa sold to publically traded WPP in 2006.

She launched IEG Sponsorship Report in 1982, unleashing the idea that businesses which partner with the sports, arts, entertainment, destinations and nonprofits that people love, outperform their competitors by a huge margin. It caught on like wildfire spawning an industry that today is worth more than $60 billion worldwide.
